About Sims Group
Started by George Sims in Manchester in 1973, still family-run, moving freight since 1973. In that time we've become specialists in the freight most carriers won't handle, and built the European network, customs expertise and distribution to carry the whole job.
Our story
Sims Group was founded in 1973 by George Sims. From a Manchester haulage business it has grown into a logistics group serving customers across the UK and Europe, while staying family-run and keeping the same focus it started with: do the job properly, look after the customer, and earn the next load.
Over 53 years we've built our reputation on the freight others turn away: hazardous and ADR (the regulations for carrying dangerous goods by road) consignments, and the European routes, customs clearance and pallet distribution that let us handle a customer's whole supply chain rather than one leg of it.
What we believe
We're not the biggest, and we don't pretend to be. What we offer is rarer: genuine specialist capability, and a dedicated contact who knows your account and treats your business like their own. Every customer gets one point of contact across everything they ship, so you're never re-explaining your business to a stranger or chasing a depot for an update.
Moving regulated freight across the UK and Europe isn't simple, but we make it look that way. We've done it well enough, for long enough, that many of our customers have been with us for years.

Our people
Sims is led by CEO Ken Daniels-Sims, with Tom Casson as Managing Director in Manchester. Behind them is a long-tenured team, which is a large part of why customers get consistency rather than a different voice every time they call.
Accreditations
Members of BIFA (the British International Freight Association) and the RHA (Road Haulage Association), FORS accredited and ISO 9001 certified, members of the Hazchem network, and access to Palletline's Amazon-approved inbound network.
